Anglers flock to northeast Oklahoma to fish for huge paddlefish, the state's oldest fish and a close relative of the sturgeon. An estimated 65,000 paddlefish can be found in the eastern two-thirds of the state. Located primarily in the Grand River, adult paddlefish can weight from 60 to 120 pounds.
As part of this project of the state's wildlife conservation department, fish are processed for the meat, which is returned to the fisherman, and any eggs are kept by the state to be sold for caviar.
