Although the induction process was intimate and touching, nothing could surpass the concert portion of the night, said Joel Everett, the Hall of Fame’s executive director.

“I’m like a kid, I can’t wait to see these guys,” he said while waiting for the bands to start.

Everett said the induction portion of the night’s festivities was everything he expected and more.

“It was great. We had some very moving moments, showing that you never know what to expect at something like this.”

Some concert-goers said it is a treat any time something of this magnitude can happen in one’s hometown.

“I am not sure who is playing exactly, but I know they are famous, and I am out here to have a great time,” said Chris Harris, 19, of Muskogee.

Andrew Yaffe, also of Muskogee, said he is glad to see so many people out supporting his hometown.

“I came to see Leon Russell and Mel McDaniel, but most of all I just came out to support Muskogee,” he said. That’s what it is all about, supporting what we have here.”
