Clayton Macom has been a part of the rodeo picture in Oklahoma for years. He’s a five-time American Cowboy Rodeo Association (ACRA) bareback champion, eight-time ACRA bull riding champion, five-time Cowboys Regional Rodeo Association (CRRA) bull riding Champion, two-time CRRA bareback champion, and International Finals bull riding champion and multi-time qualifier. Clayton has partnered with Steve Gussert in producing the Ultimate Rodeo School. They have held ten schools in the last six years. Clayton has also been seen in rodeo arenas as a judge.

Clayton has been diagnosed with acute leukemia. He is currently undergoing a second round of chemo at St. Francis in Tulsa. Clayton and his wife, Laura, a teacher with the Porum School District, reside in Stigler with their three children, Dakota, Colt and Savannah. A benefit dinner will be held for Clayton this Sunday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Porum school cafeteria. An account has been established at Farmers State Bank for anyone interested in making donations to the Macom family. For more information, you may contact Valerie Barnes or Melissa Smith at 484-5123.

Bruce Weeks, also of Wagoner, bought the colt for $275 and donated it back again to the 4-H Club. The colt was then auctioned off in the sale ring again and Karen Carey bought the colt for $275. Mrs. Carey’s daughter joined the 4-H Club the next day.
