CONNORS 11-16, CARL ALBERT 5-5 — At Warner on Tuesday, the Cowgirls (10-5) clubbed seven home runs among 23 hits in a doubleheader sweep.
Robin Murton’s three-run shot in the third inning of the opener, followed in the fiifth by a solo shot by Amanda Tanner and a two-run shot by Lacey McCoy to make it a 9-3 contest. Kyle Morton’s three-run shot in the fourth and another solo shot by Tanner were part of a seven-run fourth in the second game.
In all, Tanner collected her fourth and fifth homers of the season. Murton had her third and fourth, Morton her fifth, McCoy her third and Sara Harvey hit her first.
Tanner pitched for the first-game win to move to 7-1. Anna Scherpenseel (3-4) finished the sweep.
Connors will play Seminole State in Warner three times today, starting at 11 a.m. with the makeup game of the Eastern Tournament finals. The two clubs will follow that with a regularly-scheduled doubleheader.
BACONE 15-10, LANGSTON 3-1 — The Lady Warriors (6-14, 2-2 in Red River Athletic Conference) got three hits each from Sally Pennington and Lauren Jones in sweeping a doubleheader Tuesday at the Bacone diamond.
Robin Chriestenson and Krysta Hernandez were the winning pitchers in both games ended on the run-rule.
For the day, Sally Pennington had three doubles and drove in four runs and Lauren Jones added three hits, including a double, and three RBIs.
