Published March 27, 2008 12:51 am - Cow talk whets interest for Azalea rodeo By Rhonda Stewart Phoenix Rodeo Columnist Last week I promised an interview with one of the bulls that will be in the Azalea Festival Rodeo. Not to disappoint, here it is.
Our first interview is with a big red bull named Baby Face. His owner, Greg “Racer” Allen of Mid-West Pro Rodeo Company, acted as our interpreter (which shows that Greg can “talk bull”). Baby Face said that his hobbies include listening to moooosic, eating hay, and bucking off cowboys. He has been a pro-bucking bull for three straight years. So far his score for 38 outings is Baby Face 34, Cowboys 4. The judges mark Baby Face at 41-42 points, but he thinks he should’ve scored higher. He would like for the judges to try their hand at him. You can see him in action at the Azalea Festival Rodeo at the Muskogee Round-Up Club on April 11-12. Action starts at 8 p.m. each night. Greg did say that he is going to include steer wrestling. It is not on the handbill, so feel free to contact him if you have questions, (405) 692-3870. Rough stock contestants must call in. Rough stock books open Monday, April 7, 6 p.m., at the above number. Timed-events may be entered nightly and their books close at 7 p.m. before the performance. Next week – an interview with a big white bull named Bad Cat and he lives up to his name! Top cowboy coming An All-Around Cowboy and all-around cattle sale – that’s what is happening on Monday as Trevor Brazile will be on hand at the Linthicum Land and Cattle All-Around Angus Production Sale at the ranch near Welch. Brazile is the first cowboy to achieve a Triple Crown since Roy Cooper did in 1983. He set a PRCA record of $425,115 along the way. Beef producers attending the sale will have the opportunity to meet Brazile, as well as taking a look at over 400 head of Angus cattle. Linthicum Land and Cattle Company is operated by Teddy Linthicum and is located 1.5 miles east of Highway 2 on 120 Road, Welch.
