Joel Torres of Bacone was named as the Red River Conference Player of the Year this week, leading a group of six Warriors to receive honors.
The senior second baseman from Caguas, Puerto Rico, Torres hit a team-high .497 with 80 RBIs.
Freshman catcher Lester Gonzalez (.358 average, 42 RBIs), Senior outfielders Julian Alvarez (.419 and team leader in home runs with 26) and Travis Bernard (.446, team-high 19 doubles) and senior pitcher Zach Wallis (7-3, 4.40 ERA) were also named to the first team. Bernard and Torres both were named to the All-Glove team.
Junior third baseman Victor Alicea (.386) and junior relief pitcher Wandy Rosario (3.00 ERA, 11 saves) were chosen as second-teamers.
Bacone finished the year at 41-14.
