PHOENIX, Ariz. — Northeastern State’s Stephanie Bird continues to lead in the medalist standings with a 146 through two rounds of NCAA Division II West Regional women’s golf tournament after Tuesday’s action at The Legacy Golf Resort.

While Bird remains atop the 33-player field, NSU slipped in the team standings from second to fifth. The RiverHawks carded a 314 and combined with the 315 on Monday, they have a 629 through the two rounds of the three-round tournament.

The tournament concludes today with the final 18 holes. The top two teams advance from the regionals to the NCAA Championships on May 11-17 in Houston.

Voegeli disqualified
Jamie Voegeli, a Muskogee High School graduate, was disqualified after the second round of the Division II Central/Great Lakes Super Regional at the Red Hawk Run Golf Course in Findlay, Ohio.
Voegeli was disqualified for a wrong drop at a water hazard, according to his father, Mike.
“He was very upset and who wouldn’t be,” Mike said after talking to his son on the phone Tuesday. “He knows he learned a great lesson from this but it will help him in the long run.”
The younger Voegeli shot a 73 Tuesday, even though his score will not count. He can still help his team in scoring but is no longer eligible for medalist honors.
