As part of the regional champion and state runner-up in Class 4A, Hilldale’s Jonas Granel and Cory Kirk both made the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State golf team.
They’ll be joined by a pair of Muskogee girls: MHS’s Mychael McWhorter and Hilldale’s Sidney Tallon as well as another area golfer in Vian’s Nathan Harris.
Granel, a Hamburg, Germany, exchange student, was regional champion and finished 10th at state with a 54-hole 226 total. His visa won’t allow him to compete as it expires on July 1. Kirk, who led a second-day charge for Hilldale with his team-best 73 for a 229 total. Hilldale’s boys were second at state, 20 strokes behind champion McGuinness.
McWhorter qualified for her fourth state tournament and took fourth place at Class 6A state, shooting rounds of 77 and 82. Tallon, meanwhile, took second at state in Class 4A, shooting rounds of 88 and 81. She was seven strokes behind medalist Taylor Neidy of Clinton. Hilldale as a team finished third and Clinton won the tournament.
Harris was a top-20 finisher in 3A.
The All-State games will be at Lincoln Park West Golf Course in Oklahoma City July 27.
