Outlaw Motor Speedway results

Phoenix wire reports

OKTAHA – The hottest driver at Outlaw Motor Speedway showed no signs of slowing down with another dominating performance in racing Friday night.

Dale Richardson won his fifth feature in grand fashion, beating the field and second place finisher Justin Shoemaker (Inola) by five seconds to the finish line. The rest of the pack was another three seconds behind the two leaders.

The Muskogee driver and division points leader came from the back of the pack in just one lap to second place behind Fort Gibson’s Lynn Combs, the pole sitter. Just as Richardson and most of the field crossed the finish line completing the opening lap, a caution for a spin out froze the field.

On the restart, Richardson zipped past Combs to take the lead. He got a good jump out of turn four, forging ahead of Combs before the two could cover the 100 or so yards to the start-finish line.

From there, Richardson just ate up track, driving at a comfortable pace to his win. He has won five of the seven features at the track. Shoemaker has one and Spiro’s Brookin Stephens has the other.

Pure Stock
Bobby Lewis, with some nifty driving on a restart with just two laps remaining, won the feature in a three-car race to the checkered flag. The former track champion from Muskogee overhauled Boynton’s James Gillean and Tahlequah’s Jason Ward for his first win of the year.

Gillean appeared to be on his way to his fourth straight win until a caution on lap 13 wiped out his big lead. Lewis, the early race leader, was running about six car lengths back in second place when the race was stalled.

On the restart, Lewis passed Gillean on the back stretch and then fought off Ward in a drag race to the finish. Ward beat Gillean for second place, finishing about three cars behind the winner.

Economy Modified
Danny Womack and Jake Kelley waged a shootout in the feature with Womack prevailing for his second win of the season.

The Haskell racer took the lead on lap 13 from Glenpool’s Kelley and never trailed after that.

Kelley did get a little bit of a helping hand from his son Levi late in the race when the younger Kelley lost control and spun his car around coming out turn two bringing out the caution. That let daddy get on Womack’s bumper for the restart, but the new track owner was up to the challenge and won the three-lap sprint to the checkered flag.

Both drivers had to work their way through the field after starting towards the rear of the pack. Kelley took the lead from Kyle Schmidt of Farmington, Ark., when Schmidt lost control of his car in turn four on lap 11.

The former track champion enjoyed a two-lap advantage until Womack caught him going into turn three and exited turn four slightly ahead. Kelley was bidding for his fifth feature win of the year.

Modified
Once Greg Skaggs moved to the front of the field, there was no stopping him in spirited feature run.

The Bixby driver, who won the opening night feature back in March, set blistering pace over the final six laps to beat Fort Gibson’s Tate Cole and Chelsea’s Joe Duvall, to the conclusion of the 20-lap race.

Skaggs took the lead on lap 12 and was never challenged after that. Cole led the race at the midway point, but just didn’t have the car to challenge Skaggs over the long haul.

Powder Puff
Checotah’s Stephanie Burnett and Salina’s Tonya Whiteday won the two Powder Puff features.
