coach resigns

HULBERT — The Hulbert High School football team will have a new face on the sidelines next season after coach Mark Vance announced his resignation on Monday to accept a similar job at Chouteau High School.
Vance was the Riders coach for three seasons. In that time, the team compiled a record of 6-24. Before Vance’s arrival in 2006, the team went winless in 2004 and had just two wins in 2005.
At Chouteau, Vance inherits a program where wins have been tough to come by the past few years. The Wildcats have suffered two straight winless seasons and their last win was in 2006 against Caney Valley..
Chouteau is also in one of the toughest districts in Class 2A. The Wildcats compete against Sequoyah, Vian, Westville, Colcord, Keys, Adair and Kansas in the district. Four of the teams had winning records last year and two, Sequoyah and Vian, had 10 wins.

Three Rivers legion
loses on road

CLAREMORE -- Rogers County jumped to a 6-0 lead and beat Three Rivers 13-6 in American Legion baseball play on Monday.
Three Rivers scored four in the fifth to cut it to 6-4. Levi Sims of Webbers Falls, Cody McBride of Porter and Korey Keith two run single
Keith Poverud of Coweta had three hits on the night.
Three Rivers is now 12-5 and plays in the Stillwater Tournament on Friday.
