Published July 06, 2008 12:56 am - OSU pass record holder services set STILLWATER (AP) — Services were planned Tuesday for Bob Cutburth, a former Oklahoma State quarterback who shares the record for the longest completed pass in school history.
Cutburth, the Cowboys’ starting quarterback during the 1969 season, died Thursday after battling brain cancer for nine years. He was 60. The Strode Funeral Home in Stillwater planned a graveside service at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa and a memorial service at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Sunnybrook Christian Church in Stillwater. Cutburth went 5-5 as the Cowboys’ starter in 1969, completing an 85-yard pass to Herman Eben in a 28-19 win over No. 15 Kansas State that season. Earl Wheeler matched Cutburth’s record with an 85-yard pass to Curtis Mayfield against Nebraska in 1989, and the two passes stand as the longest in Oklahoma State history. For his career, Cutburth completed 142 of 336 passes for 1,993 yards with 17 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. He ranks 16th on Oklahoma State’s career passing list. He was a sixth-round draft pick by the Chicago Bears in 1970.
