Published July 25, 2008 12:19 am - Former OSU player dies in accident MIDWEST CITY (AP) — Former Oklahoma State University baseball player and current Choctaw High School coach James “Jamie” Cook has died in a motorcycle accident.
Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said the 36-year-old Cook died late Wednesday while returning from a concert in Oklahoma City. Clabes said Cook’s motorcycle hit a curb, causing Cook to lose control. After the motorcycle hit the curb a second time, Cook was ejected. Cook was not wearing a helmet and his head struck a traffic sign, Clabes said. Cook, who was from the Canadian province of Ontario, played first base for Oklahoma State in 1995 and 1996 after transferring from the University of Windsor. He was a member of the Cowboys’ squad that won the final Big Eight Conference tournament title and appeared in the 1996 College World Series.
