Baseball
OKTAHA 8, WISTER 0
— Shane Leach struck out three Wister batters and allowed just one hit — a third inning double — over five innings to help Oktaha move to 4-1 on the season.

His good day wasn’t contained to just the mound. He also hit a 2-run homer in the first that gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead. Cale Elam and Jon Hayes each added 2-run homers as well.

Oktaha resumes play on Thursday against Battiest in the first round of the Red Oak Tournament. Oktaha will play at Eastern College in Wilburton.


Softball
SEQUOYAH 10, WESTVILLE 0
— Courtney Glass (7-0) remained unbeaten in striking out four batters and giving up four hits at Sequoyah’s diamond on Tuesday.

Haleyee Beck led the Lady Indians (9-1) with two hits, two stolen base and an RBI. Saharra Henson added three RBIs and two hits, while Megan Tehee and Lindsey Hammer each had two hits. Sequoyah had 12 hits in the game.

The Lady Indians play host to Stilwell at 3:30 p.m. today.

HASKELL 11, CHECOTAH 0 — Winning pitcher Haylley Harris struck out four batters and gave up just on hit as the Lady Haymakers won on the run rule in five innings at Checotah’s diamond.

Jodi Edmiston and Rachel Criner combined for three hits each and five RBIs against the Lady Wildcats. Haskell returns home at 5 p.m. Thursday against Preston.

GORE 9-7, HULBERT 1-1 — The Lady Pirates (4-0) got four hits each from Samantha Hopkins and Kera Smith in the second game of the twinbill. Smith also scored three times in the first game.

Dena Qualls and Baili Kizzia each had two hits in the first game. Smith (4-0) struck out 14 batters in the two games. Gore plays Okay at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Sallisaw Central Tournament.

PORTER 14, OKAY 0 — Ashley Gilliam had two hits and drove in three runs, while Misty Turner struck out six batters and tossed a no-hitter as the Lady Pirates (4-1) beat the Lady Mustangs in three innings at Porter.

Amber Webb and Jerika Stallings combined for five hits and four RBIs. Katy Harsen added two hits. Porter resumes play at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Oktaha Tournament. The Lady Pirates also play at 3 and 4:30 p.m.

VIAN, WARNER SPLIT — Kenna McCoy had four hits and scored three times as Warner beat Vian 11-5 in the first game of a douleheader at Vian’s diamond. The Lady Wolverines (1-2) came to get the split, winning 10-2 in the nightcap.

In the first game, Macy Carman had four hits and scored three runs, while Sarah Smithson had three hit and four RBIs. Alyx Sovo and Leiloni Smith each had a hit, while Sovo, Chelsea Drew and Tonya Knotts had two hits each in the nightcap. Jori McPeak had two hits for Warner (4-4) in the nightcap.

Vian plays Wister at 6:20 p.m. Thursday in the Panama Tournament, while Warner plays Sallisaw Central at 5:45 p.m. and Keys at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday in the Sallisaw Central Tournament.

KEYS SWEEPS — Beating Sallisaw Central 3-2 and 9-8, the Lady Cougars improved to 3-2 for the season. Crystal Manus had three hits and Caitin Ratliff added two hits for Keys in the first game. In the nightcap, Megan Alsenay had three hits for the Lady Cougars.

Keys plays at home against Westville at 3 p.m. today.


Volleyball
OKAY SWEEPS
— Playing at Okay, the Lady Mustangs, ranked No. 3 in the Class 4A state rankings, beat 5A No. 11 Collinsville in three straight games, 25-20, 25-15 and 25-23.

Sydney Denhardt led Okay (3-3) with 15 aces. Katie Metzger had 17 kills, three aces and two digs. Melissa Wright had five kills and three aces, while Violeta Morales added two kills and 27 assists.

Okay, which got a combined three kills from Brittanie Seay and Miesha Gordon, returns to action on Thursday at home against Tulsa Edison.

SEQUOYAH LOSES — The Lady Indians (1-1) won the third set 25-8, but they couldn’t pull off the match as they lost to Tulsa East Central in falling 27-25, 25-18 and 25-22.

Laurin Keen led Sequoyah with seven kills and nine digs. Skye Norwood had four kills and 15 digs and Kaylae Sourjohn had seven kills, 21 digs and two aces.

Sequoyah now hosts its own tournament on Friday, facing Hulbert at 2 p.m.

OKTAHA SPLITS — The Oktaha Tigers defeated Panama 4-2 but lost to Tahlequah 4-3 in nine innings on Tuesday.

Jessica Johnson went 3-for-4 with two RBIs against Panama, Sydney Chapin went 1-for-3 with an RBI and Amanda Mullen went 3-for-4.

Against Tahlequah, Oktaha (2-5) went down in order in the bottom of the ninth after giving up the lead in the top of the inning.

Sydney Chapin fell to 2-5 on the year.
