Muskogee wins three, Hilldale picks up pair

From staff reports

BROKEN ARROW — Not a bad day for Muskogee.

The Rougherettes defeated Skiatook 10-3, Sand Springs 2-0 and Oologah 7-0 in the Broken Arrow Tournament to bump their record up to 5-4.

LaDarra Brown hit a three-run triple in the first inning in the win over Skiatook, while Hannah Hamilton added two hits. Hyc Stancle added an RBI single. Laura Fleck (1-0) was the winning pitcher.

Burch (4-4) came back to pick up a pair of pitching wins against Sand Springs and Oologah. MHS scored both of its runs in the first inning when Jordan Clark doubled in Madison Reed and Clark scored on Hamilton’s fly out. Muskogee jumped out early again against Oologah, scoring twice in the first inning when Tori Venables and Clark came around to score on a pair of singles.

Muskogee returns to action at 9 a.m. today against Bartlesville and then it will play Sperry at 12:30 p.m. The Rougherettes wrap up tournament play at 3:30 p.m. against a team to be determined.

Hilldale

The Lady Hornets suffered their first loss of the season, dropping a 6-5 decision to Owasso. However, Hilldale came back to win their second game of the day, beating McLoud 2-0 and then capped their day with a 5-0 win over Adair to finish the day 2-1 at the Broken Arrow Tournament.

Owasso scored five runs in the top of the first and Hilldale tied it with a five-run second. The Lady Hornets had eight hits, while Julie Tarkington and Madison Kirk each had two-run doubles.

Riddle was the losing pitcher.

Riddle, though, came back to get the win against McLoud as Tarkington and Emile Garcia each had two hits.

Julana Shrume got the win in the third game, holding Adair to just two hits as Hilldale moved to 6-1 on the season.

She and Riddle were both 2-for-4 at the plate in their Friday finale. Tarkington and Kelsey Morris each had RBI singles, as well.
