STILLWATER (AP) — Oklahoma State has hired former Oklahoma City University coach Tommy Wade to serve as the Cowboys’ director of player development.
The announcement Wednesday by new Oklahoma State basketball coach Travis Ford came two days after Wade resigned from Oklahoma City, where he had been an assistant for three years before being promoted to head coach in April.
Wade left OCU five days before the Stars’ season opener.
Wade is a native of Hopkinsville, Ky., which is about 35 miles from Ford’s hometown of Madisonville, Ky. Ford says they’ve known each other for years.
Wade has been an assistant on three teams that won national titles, two at NAIA Division I power OCU and one at NCAA Division II Kentucky Wesleyan.
