Connors men, women win The Cowboys (8-0) used a strong defense to hold down the Lady Mavericks (1-8). Connors held the Lady Mavs to 34 points in the first 30 minutes of the game.
“If we can get that type of production out of our defense, we’ll be all right down the stretch this season,” Connors coach Eddie Kite said. Offensively, the Cowgirls weren’t too bad either as three players scored 21 or more points and led by Gabrielle Rosiji’s 24. Ashleigh Franklin and Kameisha Johnson added 21 each. Franklin filled the basket with 15 points in the second half. Johnson had 13 in the first half — 10 of which came at the free throw line and Rosiji had 11 points in the first 20 minutes and 13 in the second half. Korie Hargus led Northern-Tonkawa with 21 points — 15 in the second half — and Erin Rousch added 12. Connors led 41-27 at halftime.
