Connors sweeps; NSU women lose

College men
CONNORS STATE 85, ARKANSAS BAPTIST 58 — Stephon Weaver led four Cowboys in double figures as Connors rolled over Arkansas Baptist 85-58 in the UA-Fort Smith Classic on Saturday.
Weaver had 18 points, while Rakeem Couch (17), CJ Washington (13) and Chris Blake (12) chipped in to help Connors move to 7-2 on the season.
Connors (7-2) plays Western Oklahoma at home at 8 p.m. on Monday.

College women
CONNORS STATE 76, ARKANSAS BAPTIST 55 — Ashleigh Franklin scored 17 points to help the Cowgirls remain undefeated on the season.
Kameisha Johnson added 15 points, while Kristen Dixon and Taylor Mumphrey poured in 11 apiece for Connors State, who moved to 11-0.
Connors plays Western Oklahoma at home at 6 p.m. on Monday.

MISSOURI SOUTHERN 75, NSU 62 — Northeastern State freshman Cristy Nitz scored a game high 20 points and Sarah Millar added 10 points in a 75-62 loss to Missouri Southern at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon.
The RiverHawks (1-3) and Lions (3-0) battled back and forth during the first half of action. The lead changed hands on five occasions and was tied five different times. NSU built a six-point cushion at 27-21 with 2:36 remaining in the half.
Missouri Southern broke open a close game midway through the second half using a 20-5 run that spanned eight minutes to take a commanding 63-47 lead.
Fort Gibson grad Kendra Dean scored two points and pulled down six rebounds.
The RiverHawks will take a week off before returning to Jack Dobbins Field House on Nov. 29 to take on Southwest Kansas.
