MUSKOGEE SWEEPS NORMAN – The Roughers defeated Norman 5-1 in game one and 6-2 in game two. In the first game, Dakota Morse was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Andrew Horn, Luke Smith, and Harris Jones had one RBI each, and Tony Horn (2-2) was the winning pitcher. In the second game, Morse had two RBIs, Cayden Cockle and Taylor Duncan had two hits each, and Bryson Bell, Smith, and Jones had one RBI each. Morse (3-2) earned the win for Muskogee (13-6).
FORT GIBSON 8, POTEAU 2 – A six-run seventh inning lifted the Tigers to the win on the road on Monday. For Fort Gibson (8-9), Boo Seward was 3-for-5 with a run scored, Tristan Johnson was 2-for-2, and Zach Drain was 1-for-1 with a double that scored two runs. Johnson (3-1) was the winning pitcher for the Tigers.
WAGONER 4, METRO CHRISTIAN 4 – Due to bad weather, the game was called in the sixth inning, resulting in a tie. For Wagoner (10-5), Roman Rodriguez had two RBIs, and Tyler Milligan had two hits. Preston Whitten pitched all six innings for the Bulldogs, giving up four runs on five hits, one walk, and recording three strikeouts.
EUFAULA 11, BEGGS 7 – Colin Walch and Ronnie Hallum were both 3-for-4, and Trey Moore was 2-for-3 as Class 3A No. 6 Eufaula (14-1) won on the road over Beggs. Trey Moore (7-0) added another win to a perfect pitching record.
HILLDALE BOYS FINISH SECOND – The Hornets posted a team score of 307 to come in second at the Kansas Invitational on Monday. Inola won the tournament with a 298.
Chandler Puckett was the top scorer for Hilldale, carding a 73 to finish second in the individual standings. Grant Sikes shot a 76 to finish fifth while Chandler Cotner and Tanner Ingle tied for eighth with a 78 to round out the team scoring. Mason Whitlock, playing as an individual, also shot a 78 to tie Cotner and Ingle while Blake Schrader was Hilldale’s fifth bag and came home with an 89.
HILLDALE, FORT GIBSON GO 1-2 AT LIBERTY – The Hilldale girls posted a team score of 340 to finish 20 strokes ahead of Fort Gibson to win the Liberty invitational as the Lady Tigers finished second.
Katie Kirkhart led Hilldale with a 79 to finish second in the individual standings. Kennedi Puckett shot an 81 and came in fourth while Paige Snyder and Shelby McGlothlin both finished with 90 to round out the team scoring.
Fort Gibson’s Kadrian Shelton grabbed medalist honors with a 76 to lead the Lady Tigers. Emilee Rigsby carded and 80 to finish third while Shelby Phillips and Savannah Gray shot 101 and 103, respectively, to complete Fort Gibson’s team scores.
HASKELL 8, MOUNDS 0 – Cheyann Benn pitched the shutout for Haskell as the Lady Haymakers dominated Mounds on the road. Offensively for Haskell (10-12), DeNora Wheeland had three RBIs.
TAHLEQUAH 8, HENRYETTA 0 – Class 6A No. 4 Tahlequah wasted no time putting runs on the board, scoring four times in the first inning, twice in the second, and twice more in the fourth. For Tahlequah (13-4), Marisa Girdner, Bub Peters, and Whitney Wright had two RBIs each, Lindsay Wade had an RBI, and Kirsten Chase had a two-run homer. Erin Dillard gave up no runs on six hits.
MHS BOYS CAPTURE BARTLESVILLE TOURNEY – The Muskogee boys tennis team won the Bartlesville tournament by one point over Ponca City, 24-23, on Monday with Owasso coming in third with 21 points.
Connor Finerty led the way with a first-place finish at No. 1 singles, beating Blake Langston of Ponca City 6-1, 6-2. Seth Chapuis, No. 2 singles, won the third-place match over Josh Callaway of Owasso 6-3, 5-7, 10-7. In doubles, Stephen Crank and Ryan Pearce finished second in No. 1 doubles, falling to the team from Bartlesville 6-2, 6-3 while Aspen Teague and Cole Whitaker came in seventh at No. 2 doubles, beating the McAlester team 7-5, 7-5.
In girls action, the Lady Roughers came in fourth at Bartlesville. Terra Patrick defeated Destiny Guzman of Tahlequah 6-4, 6-1 in her final match at No. 1 singles while Abby Wayman lost to Bartlesville’s Lilly Geerts 6-2, 6-2 in her last match at No. 2 singles. In doubles, Laura Jardine and Alexis Rosson lost to the team from Guthrie 6-4, 6-4 while Claire Farmer and Jensen Martin fell to the No. 2 doubles team from Guthrie 6-2, 6-2.
