Three Rivers sweeps Clarksville, Ark., team

McKaine Foster made quick work of a quick assignment Sunday.

Foster, from Claremore Sequoyah, threw three perfect innings for the Three Rivers Bandits in a 9-0 win against the Clarksville, Ark., River Valley Tropics in an American Legion doubleheader in Clarksville, Ark. Foster fanned five batters, raising his strikeout total to 50 in 23 innings.

A conflict with a soccer camp forced the game to be trimmed. The Bandits took the first game 15-12, holding on after jumping out to an 8-0 advantage.

A six-run second in the finale, highlighted by Cushing product Drew Wilson’s home run to right, capped the sweep. Jack Christian of Checotah had a two-RBI double, Checotah’s Caleb Knight an RBI single and Warner/Connors State product Tim Smithson had a two-run double.

Wyat Grooms of Wagoner pushed home another run with a sacrifice fly.

Knight was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, Christian 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles. Smithson 2-for-3 with two doubles and Ryan Collins of Stilwell going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Three Rivers had 15 hits in the opener. Smithson was 4-for-6 and drove in two runs as did Knight in a 3-for-4 game. Wilson was 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

Connor Mangham of Pocola went four innings for the win in the opener.

The Bandits are at Muskogee to take on the Roughers’ Diamond League team in a 5 p.m. doubleheader today.
