Activities varied and plenty with weekend drawing near

— There are so many things going on this weekend you won’t know which way to go down the highway!

 First, there’s team no roping practice or a jackpot at Rangeline this evening in preparation for Rope for the Truck roping this weekend, Saturday and Sunday. For information on their ropings you can go to their Facebook page or call Rick Hubler at (918) 557-9951 or Adam Hubler at (918) 869-0641.

The Regional Pro Bullriders will be holding their All Region Finals on Saturday at the Checotah Round-Up Club Arena. Garr Productions would like to give you a special invitation to see the crowning of the RPB’s first National Champion Bullrider and first National Champion Bucking Bull. The performance begins at 7 p.m. Gate admission is $10 for adults, children at $5, and kids 5 and under get in free. For more information call (918) 681-4394.

Barrel racers can go to Bridle Creek at Sperry on Saturday  for the final Sooner Barrel Racing Association jackpot of the 2012 season. This race will be co-sanctioned with Integrity Productions for a 5-D jackpot, which is approved by Run For The Bonus, so you can possibly qualify for the Bonus Race Finals. The Bonus Race Finals will be April 11-14, 2013, at Lincoln, Neb. The goal for their finals is $30,000 in added money. For more information go to www.bonusracefinals.com.

Go to www.barrelhorseworld.com on the Events page and you can see the early draw for the Bridle Creek race on Saturday. You can enter either or both races. Exhibitions are from 11-1:30, PeeWees start at 2 p.m. and everything else follows. Integrity Productions will also offer pole bending following the open barrel race.

 The Muskogee Round-Up Club’s 2012 Jackpot Playday Series awards presentation really is this is 2 p.m. Sunday at the clubhouse. Everyone is welcome to attend! The address is 2942 South Cherokee Drive, Muskogee. Cake and soft drinks will be served.

Don’t forget the Connors State College Alumni & Friends inaugural Versatility Ranch Horse Show in the morning and Timed Event Rodeo in the evening, both Saturday. The horse show registration is from 7-9 a.m. and offers a clinic. The show begins at 10 a.m. Books for the rodeo open at 5 p.m. and the rodeo starts at 6 p.m. Entry forms and a competition rule book are available online at www.connorsstate.edu.  Since Saturday is the first day of deer-gun season, Sunday will be “Wear Your Camo Day” at the Three Rivers Cowboy Church. Bible study at 10, then Ollen Davis and the Travelers will begin their musical performance at 10:30. Pastor Tom Gragg will give the sermon and Thanksgiving dinner will be served right after church!  It is time to start thinking of worming your horses again. We have had a frost. I know you have all seen the bot flies going crazy around the horses. I usually worm mine each season change, but with the bot flies – I worm them after the freeze, then again in 30 days. Check with your veterinarian for the schedule that will be right for your horses.
