Fort Gibson boys, Hilldale girls take conference crowns

Fort Gibson boys and Hilldale girls swept top honors at the Verdigris Valley Conference golf tournaments played at windy Shangri-La Golf Course in Miami on Wednesday.

The Tigers, led by individual champioln Wesley Jackson’s 77, shot 329 and won by 18 strokes over Miami. Hilldale was third at 358. Wagoner shot 373.

Fort Gibson’s Jordan London and Rayne Cox each shot 83 and tied for fourth. Cade Rogers shot 86 and Dalton Rhoden 87. For Hilldale, Grant Sikes shot 87, Tanner Ingle 89,  Chandler Cotner 90 and Chandler Puckett, the defending conference champ, shot 92. Blake Schrader had a 99.

Wagoner’s top golfer was John Maher with an 86.

Hilldale’s girls shot 409. The defending Class 4A champs were led by Katie Kirkhart, who won with an 87. Fort Gibson, which shot 418, was second while Kadrian Shelton shot 92 for second individually. Hilldale’s Kennedi Puckett was third at 89 and Fort Gibson’s Emilee Rigsby fourth at 99.

Other Hilldale scores included Paige Snyder and Shelby McGlothlin, both with 112s, and Zoe Jones (114). Fort Gibson’s  included Abby Psomas (112), Shelby Phillips (115) and Lexi Gillam (116).

Wagoner girls shot 448.
