Bacone names men's soccer coach

James Carter has been hired as the new head men’s soccer coach at Bacone College, vice president of athletics and athletic director Alan Foster announced Tuesday.

“We’re happy to have James (Carter) take over the reigns over the men’s soccer program and look forward to his leadership,” Foster said. “He comes to us from a top-quality program and we feel he was the best fit to lead us.”

Carter comes to Bacone College after serving as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Crowder College. He succeeds Walter Liszeski, who resigned in May. The first-year head coach takes over a squad that finished 2-15 overall and tied for ninth at 2-9 in the Red River Conference;

“One of most important things I looked forward to is for the players to make memories on and off the field,” the new Warriors coach said. “Hopefully we do that and at the same time they get a quality education.”

Carter graduated from Pittsburg State with a Master’s of Science in Health, Human Performance and Recreation while also being named to the graduate dean’s academic honors list. He holds an undergraduate degree in Physical Performance from Southwestern College.
