Rangeline Arena will hold a team roping practice tonight from 6-7:30 p.m. at $20 per horse. The practice will be followed by a #12 slide jackpot, pick one draw two at $50 per roper, enter up to three times. For more information call (918) 557-9951. Barton Arena Productions will be at the Double D Arena and Steakhouse in Poteau on Saturday evening, hosting a #10 roping with a #8 Incentive Saddle Drawpot, enter one draw one for $40 or draw both. There is a $20 saddle fee required. The saddle certificate or cash pot will go to the high money winner. Fifty-two ropers are needed for the saddle certificate. The Professional Bull Riders broadcasting schedule lists 9 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday on the CBS Sports Network. At last week’s event in Sacramento, Calif., the final matchup featured a face-off between 2004 World Champion Mike Lee and 2012 World Champion Bull, Asteroid. Asteroid was the Monster Energy Money Bull. Lee was only able to stay with him 3.4 seconds. If he had ridden Asteroid, he would have earned a $33,000 bonus. Guilherme Marchi was the event winner earning a total of $36,541.67. This win moved him into the top 10 for 2013.
Jeffries Productions will offer a Womens Professional Rodeo Association approved $250 Added 4D Bonus Race Qualifier at the Checotah Round-Up Club arena Sunday afternoon. The race will be a 4D format with half-second splits. Exhibitions will begin at noon at $4 each or three for $10. The Jackpot will begin at 2 p.m. and have an entry fee of $25. There will be WPRA Junior, Derby, and Futurity sidepots at $25 each. Corkie and Linda always produce a well-run jackpot with good ground. For more information call or text them at (918) 329-6776.
Bull Riders Inc., will hold their 2013 season opener at Cummins Performance Horse Ranch in Owasso, 66th and 145 E Ave, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23. They will have $2,000 in added money. Friday will be horse sale night at Parrish Horse Company Saddles and Tack. Used tack begins to sell at 5 p.m. and horses immediately follow. Better head up there – it is just about time to hit the trails and arenas. Mary always has new items in the tack store and it is open on Friday nights during the sale.
This month’s Farmers Almanac dates to trim manes and tails to promote growth are Feb. 12-13, 16-18, and 21-22.
