COLUMN: Horse ownership brings responsibility

Are you interested in experiencing the joys of horse ownership? While sharing your life with a horse can be a rewarding experience, it also means accepting the responsibility of caring for your equine companion for life.

Three Rivers Cowboy Church of Muskogee is going to have a Ranch Sorting at 6 p.m. Saturday. For more information contact Tom Gragg at (918) 577-5190.

Muskogee Round Up Club will have a barrel race tonight. Last week’s race was rained out so the make-up race will be added to the end of the series. Exhibitions are at 6 p.m., race at 8 p.m. Youth entry fee $17 (12 and under), Open 4D entry fee $30. Contact Rhonda Stewart at (918) 869-1498.

Last week’s sorting at the Hillbilly Ranch and Arena had 99 teams. The big surprise was Zebus and they were a big hit! The next sorting will be Friday. North East Oklahoma Pigeon Federation proudly presents a Broncs, Bulls and Birds event Friday at the Tulsa RV Ranch in Beggs. Rangeline Arena  has a team roping Friday. #7 with/5 inc., capped at #4. Pick 1, draw 1, or draw two. $50 entry fee per person. Enter up to five times. Belt buckles go to the high-point header and heeler of the roping! No prize fees. Books open 6:30 p.m., rope at 7:30 p.m. The high-point ropers last Friday were Jim Watson and Randall Thomas. Lain Productions continues a buckle series barrel race tonight at the Tulsa RV Ranch in Beggs. The 4D Open entry fee is $25, youth $15 and pee wees $10. There’s a $7 processing fee per rider excluding pee wees. Exhibitions at 6 p.m., race at 8 p.m. Contact Debbie Lain at (918) 946-8841.
