Two area anglers in top 10

Wagoner’s Tommy Biffle landed the biggest bass of the day at 8 pounds, 6 ounces to finish with a five-bass total of 24-1, good for third place after Day 1 of the Bassmaster's BASSfest at Chickamauga Lake, Tenn., on Wednesday.

Park Hill’s Jason Christie weighed in five bass at 22-05 and sits in eight place. Edwin Evers of Talala is just ahead of Biffle in second place at 24-03.

Michael Iaconelli of Pitts Grove, N.J., leads the event with a total of 25-12. The field of 140 will be cut to the top 50 after today’s second round with the top 10 after Friday moving on to Saturday’s final.

Three Rivers sweeps Tulsa Memorial

TULSA – The Three Rivers American Legion team took both ends of a doubleheader from Tulsa Memorial, 8-0 and 10-1, on Wednesday.

Wagoner’s Preston Whitten got the win in the first game ann Collins had two doubles. In the nightcap, Whitten was 2-for-2 at the plate as Dillion Guffey, a Connors State signee, earned the victory.

Game two saw Wagoner’s Wyat Grooms have two doubles and three RBIs while Checotah’s Jack Christian was 3-for-3.
