4A at Cushing
In at tournament that was reduced to nine holes due to a steady rain and a 37 degree temperature, the Fort Gibson Lady Tigers got the third and final team qualifying spot with a 209 total at Cushing Country Club.
Cushing shot 199 and Catoosa 202. The Tigers beat fourth-place Oologah by nine strokes, denying it a return state trip. Meanwhile, it will be the Tigers’ 11th straight year to qualify for state.
FGHS’s Kadrian Shelton was second with a 44 and lost in a playoff. Emilee Rigsby shot 49, Savannah Gray 58, Madison Higley 59 and Lexie Gilliam a 59.
“It’s hard to justify a nine hole tournament but the conditions were awful,” said FGHS coach Gary Hendrix. “I think we’d played better on the back nine but I feel for Oologah for not getting the chance to make a run at it.”
6A at Owasso
The Lady Roughers were shut out of state consideration Tuesday, finishing 12th of 13 teams at Owasso Golf Club. Muskogee’s Hannah Jones shot 93, missed state by a stroke. Haley Schuler (105), Brittany Felts (106), Sydnie Rosson (109) and Katie Matthews (121) rounded out MHS’s scores. Union (304) was champion.Marla Souvannasing shot 73 for top medalist honors.
3A at Verdigris
Eufaula’s Faith Lasiter shot 82 for the title at Scissortail Golf Club and the Lady Ironheads claimed the team championship with a 358, six strokes better than Henryetta.
Lasiter won by one stroke over Henryetta’s Morgan Borwn. Lasiter’s teammate, Hannah Rippy, shot 86 for fourth. Also for Eufaula, Melissa Eldredge shot 90, Heidi Stafford 100 and Taylor O’Brien 104.
Keys and Stigler also earned state bids, shooting 429 and 434, respectively. Ali Nolan led Keys with a 103 with Kayla Hunt behind her at 104. Brook Hurst shot 90 to lead Stigler, followed by Brookly Olzawski with a 106.
5A at Pryor
Tahlequah’s Emily Pippin shot 85 and finished third in the medalist race as she and teammate Mikal Yahola earned state tickets at Pryor Creek Golf Course. Yahola shot 105.
Alexis Sadeghu of Bishop McGuinness won the event with a 78. Durant’s Sydney Youngblood was second with an 82. Bishop MCGuinness shot 360 for first place, a two-shot victory over Durant. Pryor (404) also advances to state.
