USTR championships this weekend in Tulsa

— The United States Team Roping Championships is having its Rope The Ozarks Team Roping Friday and Saturday at the Mustang North Arena, Expo Center Fairgrounds in Tulsa. A 3-horse trailer will be awarded to the No. 10 hi-point roper, No. 8 hi-point roper wins a Heel-O-Matic and Gist buckles to average winners. The Sooner Barrel Racing Association has scheduled its first barrel race for Saturday at the Hilltop Arena in Muskogee. Exhibitions start at 11 a.m., race at 1 p.m. Entry fees as follows: Pee Wee $13, Youth $18 and Open $26, one-time barn fee per person $7. A $100 added money Breakaway Roping will be held Friday at the Mark Holder Arena in Vian. Roping starts at 8 p.m. Entry fees are $125, two head and average payoff. CRRA sanctioned, Open accepted. Contact (479) 790-3312.

The Hamilton Sports Arena in Vian is going to have a mini-series with $500 added money at the April 4 finals. This series started March 14, must run twice in March to qualify for the finals. The Rockin’ C Productions is having a 4-week March Madness 4D barrel racing series each Friday night in March at the Bridle Creek Arena in Sperry. There is no nomination fee. Exhibitions start at 6 p.m., race at 8 p.m. Pre-entries can be text to Sheila Chapman at (918) 231-6937.

The Rangeline Arena in Warner will have team roping practice today from 6-7:30p.m. Rope at 8 p.m. Ranch Sorting practice Friday from 6-9 p.m.

Saturday will be a buckle roping, no prize fee. Bob Berg buckles to hi-point header and heeler of the day. Books open from 3-3:45 p.m., rope at 4 p.m. Congratulations to Doug Shipman and Logan Byrd, they were last weeks hi-point buckle winners. The Hilltop Arena in Muskogee will have a 4D barrel race Monday. Last Monday, Jenna Allen won the Youth, Payton Zodrow won the 2D, Afton Becker won the 3D and Kerissa Seck won the 4D. Nydeary Fullbright won the Open with a 14.392, Michelle Fleming won the 2D, Garrett Swboni won the 3D and Cora Screechowl won the 4D. The C Bar Productions continues its 4D barrel races at the Checotah Round Up Club Arena each Tuesday. Paula Marie won it last week with a 15.468, Kinsley Swepston won the 2D, Julie Gatlin won the 3D and Sarita Mitchum won the 4D. Exhibitions start at 6 p.m., race starts at 8 p.m. Youth, 13 and under, entry fee is $15; Open is $30 with a one-time $5 building fee per rider.
