— OKLAHOMA 3, TULSA 1 — Down to its last chance, Tulsa loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the seventh against Ricketts, and even momentarily appeared to cut the lead to one after a bunt down the first-base line by Haskell grad Jodi Edmiston  seemed to score a runner. But after a protest by OU coach Patty Gasso, officials huddled and ultimately ruled that the ball bounced off Edmiston on the basepath, rendering Edmiston out and the game over.

Jessica Shults’ two-run single in the sixth broke a 1-1 tie. Tulsa’s Samantha Cobb hit her seventh home run in the fourth to tie the game. Georgia Casey’s bunt single gave OU the lead in the third.

A pitchers’ duel for five innings between OU’s Michelle Gascoigne and Tulsa’s Aimee Creger, the Sooners finally broke through in the sixth, turning a 1-1 tie into a 3-1 lead on Jessica Shults’ single that brought in Georgia Casey and Shelby Pendley.

Keilani Ricketts (16-1) earned the victory in relief for the Sooners, allowing one hit with five strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings. Starter Michelle Gascoigne left the game with a tie score after tossing 4 1/3, allowing a run on three hits. Aimee Creger (15-3) absorbed the loss after pitching six innings, posting five strikeouts and allowing three earned runs on six hits.

OU (31-2) and Tulsa (29-8-1) met last year in the NCAA regional, where the Golden Hurricane shut out the Sooners for five innings before the Sooners broke open the game on their way to the regional title. OU hosts Baylor in a regionally televised contest (Fox Sports Plus) and Tulsa is off until Saturday at East Carolina.
