TU’s spring game Saturday

TULSA — The University of Tulsa spring football game and the unveiling of a statue of former TU star Glenn Dobbs are scheduled for Saturday.

The spring game is to begin at 1 p.m. at H.A. Chapman Stadium while the statue unveiling is to be at noon just outside the north gates of the stadium.

Dobbs was an All-American tailback at Tulsa where he helped the Golden Hurricane to a Sun Bowl win in 1942 and to an appearance in the Sugar Bowl the next season. Dobbs returned to Tulsa in 1961 as head football coach and led TU to the 1964 and 1965 Bluebonnet Bowl games.

OU’s game adds autographs

NORMAN — Fans will get the opportunity to meet their favorite Sooners players on April 13 as a free 45-minute autograph session will follow the Oklahoma Sooners’ spring football game on Owen Field. The autograph session will be available only to those fans who attend the game. No post-game-only access will be permitted.

Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. on April 13, while gates open at 12:30 p.m. Advance tickets are currently available for $5 online or by phone at (800) 456-4668. The price will increase to $10 on April 10.

OU, Tulsa set for today in softball

Oklahoma will replace Louisiana-Lafayette on Tulsa’s softball schedule today after poor weather conditions forced the cancellation of part of ULL’s road trip to Oklahoma.

The 4 p.m. contest at TU’s Collins Family Softball Complex will mark the firs ttime a Tulsa team has played host to another ranked school in program history. Tulsa is 18th and OU comes in No. 1 in the country.
