CONNORS 71, MID-SOUTH CC 50 — The Cowgirls (14-9) snapped a three-game losing streak with a wire-to-wire win at West Memphis, Ark., thanks to Shakemia Franklin’s seven 3s and game-high 27 points. Kami Bunch followed with 12 points and Tonisha Dean 11 points.
“We played much better basketball today than in the past three games,” said head coach Eddie Kite. “We took the lead early and kept playing well. They did everything we asked.”
Connors held a 34-23 lead at the intermission and cruised to the win. It was the second win of the season over Mid-South for the Cowgirls. Mid-South (5-17) was led by Jasmine Greer’s 12 points.
The Cowgirls return to Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Monday, traveling to El Reno to play Redlands Community College. Tip-off is 6 p.m.
ORU 90, SLU 48 — In Tulsa, Oral Roberts opened the game with a 25-2 run, as all five Golden Eagles’ starters scored in double figures in the Southland Conference victory against Southeastern Louisiana.
Junior wing Christian Key led ORU (10-10 overall and 7-3 in the SLC) with 22 points on 6-for-9 shooting from behind the arc. Senior guard Kevi Luper added 19 points, followed by junior center Sarah Shelton, who posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Oral Roberts connected on 13 3-point field goals on the way to the victory against the Lady Lions (9-12, 2-8).
