The Bacone Warriors men’s track and field fell just short on Tuesday in their bid to repeat as the Red River Athletic conference champions.
The Warriors finished with 113 total points, coming in second to Langston University’s 140 points. But Bacone’s Collin Swanagan had a field day, finishing first in the men’s 100-meter dash and 200 with times of 10.45 and 21.41 seconds, respectively. Emmanuel Birdens took second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 55.67; also coming in second was the men’s 400 relay at 41.39.
The Warriors had a handful of performers finish third including Sam Cuffey in the 400 at 49.66, Damon Briggs in the 10,000 (36:36.49) and the men’s 1,600 relay (3:20.32). Birdens took fourth in the 100 hurdles at 15.96; also taking fourth was Andre Barnett in the men’s 100 and Cameron Foster in the men’s 1,500.
On the women’s side the Lady Warriors finished fifth with 24 points. Amber Scott was third in the 800 with a time of 2:31.22.
