Hit parade as Lady Roughers paste Bixby

Aubrey Johnson got things started for the Lady Roughers, leading off the game with her first home run of the season, as Muskogee run-ruled Bixby 10-0 in a District 6A-3 matchup on Tuesday in Bixby.

Johnson finished 3-for-4 with a stolen base and was one of five Lady Roughers to have multi-hit games. Kaitlin Kaiser was also 3-for-4 while Carlee Gann was 2-for-3 with a run batted in, Nia Maxwell was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Shaylee Rowland was 2-for-4. Dee Emarthle, who was 1-for-4, hit her second home run of the year in the first inning and had two RBIs.

“This was by far our best offensive game of the season,” said MHS coach Keith Coleman. “Tonight, kind of, was our night and the next time we play them it might be their night.”

Rowland got the win in the circle, improving to 4-1 on the year. She held Bixby to six hits while striking out two.

“No doubt about it, we're not 10 runs better that Bixby,” Coleman said. “Bixby's a great team. They're coached well and they play hard. They hit the ball really well and it seemed they hit the ball right at us.”

The Lady Roughers return to action at 5 p.m. Thursday in another district game, this time at Jenks.
