AT CROWDER — The Oktaha Tigers face elimination from the postseason after falling to Talihina 12-3 on Thursday in the Class 2A regional in Crowder.
The Tigers (15-10) held a 3-2 lead after three innings when Talihina erupted for six runs in the fourth to grab an 8-3 advantage. Jordan Webb (6-5) suffered the loss and experienced control problems in the fourth inning, walking four batters and hitting two.
Oktaha also struggled at the plate with Dakota Berry and Austin Crowder both went 1-for-3 while Caleb Shoemake was 1-for-4.
The Tigers play Crowder, a 10-0 victim to Tushka, at 2 p.m. today in the loser’s bracket with the winner meeting Talihina, who fell to Tushka 11-1 in the winner’s bracket. Should Talihina win that game, it meets Tushka at 6 p.m. today in the regional final.
If Oktaha or Crowder advances to the regional final against Tushka, that game will be played on Saturday with the time to be determined while the if-necessary follows that.
AT CANEY VALLEY — Sophomore Levi Jones slugged a three-run home run for one of his three hits and drove in seven runs as the Warner Eagles thumped Fairland 21-8 in the Class 2A regional tournament on Thursday.
Jones also had a two-run single and singled in another run in the Eagles’ 11-run second inning. Warner (27-7) sent 16 batters to the plate in that second inning.
Cody Coffman had three hits and drove in three runs with a double in the second and a single in the fourth. Briar Campbell added two hits. Gage Sparrow (8-1) struck out six batters for the five-inning complete-game victory.
Warner returns to the diamond at noon today against Caney Valley as the regional tournament continues. The remainder of the games will be played at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., while the regional championship and if necessary game will be Saturday, starting at noon.
AT SPIRO — Spiro beat Eufaula 2-0 and Hartshorne beat Stigler 8-7, forcing an elimination game between Eufaula and Stigler late. Spiro beat Hartshorne 11-0 and will await the loser’s bracket survivor.
AT TULSA MEMORIAL — Tahlequah was tied 1-1 in the sixth against Tulsa Memorial when the game was suspended by rain. The two teams will resume at 11 a.m. with the winner going against Coweta immediately following The loser gets Hale at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Lane Cobb drove in Jordan Blalock for Tahlequah’s only run.
