Roughers, Tahlequah doubles still playing

— OKLAHOMA CITY – It was a rough day for the Muskogee girls at the Class 6A state tenpins tournament on Friday.

In No. 1 singles, Timberleigh McGee went 0-2 on the day, falling to Ann Pepper of Edmond North 6-0, 6-0 in the championship portion of the bracket and 6-1, 6-1 to Anna Norman of Choctaw in the consolation portion. Claire Farmer, playing at No. 2 singles, dropped her opening match to Megan Turcotte of Bartlesville 6-3, 6-1 and saw Gabby Schreiner of Norman bounce her in the consolation bracket 6-3, 6-0.

In doubles action, Kaleigha Fields and Alexis Rosson lost to Annie Hale and Shaylee Smith of Broken Arrow in their opener 6-0, 6-0 then won their consolation match over Blakely Ryans and Christina Schultz of Lawton Eisenhower 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. Laura Jardine and Sierra Sanders at No. 2 doubles dropped a 6-0, 7-5 decision to Raegan Peters and Emily Shadid of Tulsa Kelley in the first round and a 6-2, 7-5 loss to Heather Underwood and Taylor Sullivan of Mustang in consolation action.

In Class 5A, Karson Heist and Katie Schiefelbein of Tahlequah won their opening match at No. 1 doubles over Evann Couch and Aubree Jones of Tulsa Edison 6-3, 6-2, then lost in the second round to Samanatha Cassidy and Sydney Hendricks of Duncan 6-1, 6-1.

Class 4A saw the No. 1 doubles team of Maggie Bobo and Sarah Miller of Wagoner lose to Lacie Unah and Hayley Wright of  Anadarko 6-1, 6-3 in their opener and to Ashley Daubenspeck and Roxy Leonard of Clinton 7-6, 7-6 in consolation action.
