ROUGHERS WIN — Capturing both singles titles, Muskogee took first in the Norman Tournament, co-hosted by Norman and Norman North on Friday.
Connor Finerty won at No. 1 singles, going 3-0 and capping it with a win over Joseph Davenport of Santa Fe, 6-1, 6-2. Ryan Pearce equaled that at No. 2 singles, beating Byng’s Dylan West 6-2, 6-2 in the finals. Muskogee had 28 points, edging Byng with 27 and Santa Fe with 26 in a field of eight teams.
Stephen Crank and Seth Chapuis were fourth in No. 1 doubles and in No. 2 doubles, Aspen Teague and Colin Watson were also fourth, both teams going 1-2 on the day.
Muskogee is in the Union Team Tournament on Saturday.
LADY ROUGHERS THIRD — Muskogee’s Laura Jardine and Alexis Rosson led the charge, finishing atop the pack in No. 1 doubles, and Abby Wayman was second at No. 1 singles at the Norman tourney, co-hosted by Norman High and Norman North. Byng won the tournament with 31 points, Muskogee had 24 points and trailed Norman North by one point.
Jardine and Rosson won three matches, including a 6-4, 6-3 win over Maggie Marcum and Gabby Schreiner of Norman in the finals. Wayman won two matches but fell in the finals to Byng’s Kalina Popova, 6-1, 6-1.
Timberleigh McGee was fourth in No. 1 singles, going 1-2. Marta Fraile and Madison Hiner went 0-2 in No. 2 doubles.
Muskogee girls join the boys in the Union team tourney today.
