EASTERN 87, CONNORS 55 – Connors State (3-6, 1-2 OCAC) jumped out to an early lead but could not hold on Tuesday afternoon in Wilburton.
Alyssa Jones led the Cowgirls scoring with 14 points with Johnesha Major adding 12.
“We got an early lead on them and handled their man defense and press well,” said Cowgirls head coach Eddie Kite. “Then we just couldn’t buy a shot when they went zone on us. Frustration then set in and we started to make some poor shots and bad decisions.”
Eastern (10-1, 4-0) held a 40-27 lead at intermission behind the 18-point scoring performance of De’Amber Brice.
Connors gets Redlands at home in a 6 p.m. tip on Thursday.
SAINT LOUIS 65, TULSA 54 — At St. Louis, the Billikens led by as many as 22 points with 8:42 to play before TU (3-2) closed with a 21-10 run to make it respectable. Erika Lane led the TU attack with 11 points, while Ashley Clark pulled down a team-best 11 rebounds. The Hurricane is back in action Saturday at home against Arkansas-Little Rock in a 1 p.m. start.
Oklahoma Wesleyan 86, Bacone 67 — Tamiya Green had 21 points and 15 rebounds for the Lady Warriors in the road loss. Cheyla Vega had 16 and Dametria Dawson 11.
