Prep roundup

CLASS A DISTRICTS at Gore — Porum (17-5) has a leg up on a district title after eliminating Gore 14-4 on Wednesday. Keota, which beat Gore 11-6 in the first game, plays the Panthers at 4 p.m. today and again at 6 in what amounts to a best-of-3 championship. If the two split today the rubber game is 4 p.m. Friday.

Porum became the beneficiaries of 13 walks, four hit batsmen and a three-run error with the bases loaded in the second that led to a five-run inning. Tristen Mann threw six innings and struck out six for the win, scattering nine hits. He was 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles.

Gore got a home run from Dakota Andrews against Keota. The Pirates finish the season at 8-13.

Katie McCullar hit two home runs early for Porum in the elimination game and the Panthers (19-13) got a run up in the seventh and eighth only to be matched. Kori Lindsey tripled in the ninth and scored on Olivia Morris’ grounder but a two-run walkoff single in the bottom of the inning ended it.

CLASS A at Braggs — Bowlegs dominated the tournament and beat Braggs 18-0 in the championship game to end the Wildcats’ season at 12-10. Braggs lost to Cave Springs in its opening game 5-4, then eliminated Midway 9-1. Midway also lost 19-1 to Bowlegs to start the day, then the champs duplicated that score against Cave Springs, which then lost to Braggs 10-1, setting up the title game.
