Connors splits in Enid; wraps up regular season Saturday

— ENID — Connors State split its Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference softball twinbill Thursday with Northern Oklahoma-Enid, losing the first game 5-4 and taking the nightcap 10-6.

The split gives the Cowgirls a 35-14 overall record and 19-11 OCAC mark. NOC-Enid is now 37-18 and 15-14. Connors will play at Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa on Saturday in an OCAC doubleheader to close out the regular season.

The Cowgirls’ Kristen Reasnor (13-8) was the winning pitcher in the second game with Jessica Christian getting the save. Erin Isham’s solo homer in the fourth inning gave the Cowgirls a 9-4 advantage. Connors scored four runs in the first inning and was never contested from that point forward.

In the opener Connors took a 4-1 lead before NOC-Enid battled back to make it 5-4 on a two-run homer in the sixth.

Taylor Canida (11-3) took the loss inside the circle. Canida also connected on a two-run homer in the first inning, her eighth of the year.
