Muskogee Round-Up Club’s playdays begin

Saturday marks the first playday at Muskogee Round Up Club. Exhibitions at 3 p.m. and are $4 each or three for $10. Leadline at 4 p.m. Classes are: barrel racing, pole bending, down and back and flag racing.

Goat tying will be added to the first two playdays. This event will not count towards awards and may continue the rest of the season based upon participation. Age groups are: leadline (6-and-under) , 8-and-under (unassisted) , 9-12, 13-17 and 18 and older. $5 per class entered. One-time nomination fee: $5, nomination is not required. Pioneer Days Rodeo will be held Friday and Saturday at the Nowata Round Up Club Arena. Mutton Bustin’ starts at 7:15 p.m., rodeo performances start at 8 p.m. Contact George Bowman at (918) 637-3819.

Miami Rodeo has been named the ACRA rodeo of the year for four straight years. More than 400 contestants will compete Friday and Saturday at the Miami Fairgrounds Arena. Gates open at 5 p.m., Mutton Bustin’ at 6:45 p.m., performance starts at 7:30 p.m. nightly. This also an IPRA sanctioned rodeo, locals accepted. Contact (918) 371-2048.

Coweta Round Up Club continues their Thursday night 5D barrel series. Exhibitions at 6:30 p.m., race at 8 p.m. Pee Wee entry fee is $15, Youth $20 and Open $30. $5 will be held from each Open run for the added money final race on May 15, must attend four of the six races to be eligible for the added money race. Rangeline Arena in Warner will have team roping practice tonight from 6-7:30 p.m. and roping at 8 p.m. Ranch Sorting practice is  from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday’s slate consists of a saddle and buckle roping. Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis, otherwise known as EPM, believed to be one of the most common equine neurologic diseases in North America and can affects horses of all ages, breeds and disciplines.
