— SILOAM SPRINGS HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT — Both of Tahlequah’s basketball teams lost in the third-place games at the Siloam Springs (Ark.) Holiday Tournament on Saturday.

The Tigers fell 60-41 to Greenwood, Ark., to slip to 3-7 for the season while the Lady Tigers fell 42-41 to Prairie Grove, Ark., to drop to 7-4.

Coach Mike Leafgreen’s boys squad trailed 42-32 going into the fourth quarter. Dalton Cunningham and Will Carlile sank back-to-back 3-point shots to cut the deficit to 42-38 in the early stages of the period, but the Tigers wouldn’t get any closer.

“We just ran out of gas,” Leafgreen said.

Casey Beaston’s 3-point attempt with 10 seconds left in the game hit the front of the rim as the Lady Tigers lost their second straight game.

“I thought she was going to make it,” coach Chad Walker said.

Randee O’Donnell scored 14 points and Whitney Wright added 13 as the Lady Tigers made only 12 of 24 free throws in the game.

Tahlequah’s teams are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Oklahoma City Bishop McGuinness. The girls play at 5 p.m. the boys at 6:30.

In Friday late games, Tahlequah lost to Siloam Springs as the boys fell 68-56, while the Lady Tigers lost 46-41.

In earlier games Saturday, Wagoner’s boys lost 50-45 to McAlester in the consolation championship game and the Wagoner girls fell 54-44 to Shiloh Christian in the seventh-place game.

With the Bulldogs trailing 48-45, Byron Adams grabbed an offensive rebound and made a basket, but he was whistled for a foul. He finished with 15 points as Wagoner fell to  2-6.

Jessarai Fullbright had 10 points and seven rebounds, while Lateze Clayton scored nine points and had eight rebounds as Wagoner trailed 25-22 at halftime.

In the girls loss, the Lady Bulldogs trailed 30-21 at halftime.

Kelsi Emmons led Wagoner (0-8) with 13 points, while sisters Kristen and Shareece Robbins had eight each. The Lady Bulldogs made just six of 13 free throws.

Both Wagoner teams return to the court on Friday at Catoosa with the girls tipping off at 2 p.m. and the boys at 3:30 p.m.
