Rodeos and roundups resume this weekend

— Rangeline Arena will begin its 2013 shodeo series at 3 p.m. Jan. 13. The series will offer barrels, flags and poles from lead line on up. This year, there will be a stick horse barrel race for the little ones and also dummy roping added. In possibly March or April, goat undecorating and goat tying will be added. Barton Arena Productions will be at the Checotah Round-Up Club on Sunday with a No. 10 roping with a No. 8 Incentive capped at 6E, enter one draw one for $40 or draw both – no prize fee required. There will be up to $500 added money to the high money winner. Books will open at 1:30 p.m. and close 2:30 p.m. capped at 6E. Call Bart for more information at (918) 616-9269.

Jeffries Productions has rescheduled its $250 added New Years Day 4D Bonus Race qualifier for Saturday. The location will be the Checotah Round-Up Club Arena. The format will be half-second splits.

There will be a 30-minute riding session at 10 a.m. at $10 per horse. Exhibitions will begin at noon, $4 each or 3 for $10. The race will begin at 2 p.m. with an entry fee of $25.00 and a $5 building fee per rider. Payback will be 75 percent.

There will be WPRA Junior, Derby and Futurity sidepots at $25 each. Remember the 2013 Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series will kick off with the Monster Energy Invitational in New York City Saturday and Sunday. CBS Sports Network will be televising the event. Airing times will be 9 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday.

This year, the PBR will celebrate 20 years of competition. PBR has awarded over $120 million dollars in prize money through the 20 years of competition, including a $1 million dollar bonus to the PBR World Champion each year.

The Sooner Barrel Racing Association will be holding its awards banquet and annual business meeting at 6 p.m. Jan. 26 at the clubhouse at the Inola Round-Up Club. If you are considering joining SBRA for 2013, come to the meeting, see what nice awards everyone receives and be a part of any rule changes for 2013. The Inola Round-Up Club is located off Hwy 412 on 4230 Rd.

The Muskogee Round-Up Club will be holding its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the clubhouse. There are changes in the annual membership fees and requirements this year, so if you are joining or renewing, please contact an officer for details. The new forms will be on the website shortly.

The Hays Family Arena will present the 1st Annual Hays Family Invitational Open Calf Roping and Open Breakaway on Jan. 13 with $1500 added in each event. The roping will start at 12:30 p.m. with the Open Calf Roping. They will be breaking in the IFR calves at this roping. The Hays Family Arena is located at 32772 W. 241st St.S, Bristow. The International Finals Rodeo (IFR43) will be held at the Oklahoma City State Fair Arena Jan. 18-20. They will be holding the Bucking Stock Sale at 9 a.m. Jan. 15-16. each day. There will be belt buckles awarded to the buyers of the highest selling bull, saddle bronc, and bareback horse.

There will be added money bull riding, saddle bronc, and bareback competition and a 5-and 6-year old futurity. The futurity winners will advance to the World Finals Bucking Horse Futurity in December 2013. There will also be a bullfighting competition.
