Bull Riders, Inc. to hit ‘dirty’ Civic Center

Tonight will be the Bull Riders, Inc., meet and greet at the Creek Nation Casino here in town, but you do have to be 21 to enter the casino. This year a portion of the proceeds of the Bull Riders, Inc. National Finals production will go to benefit the Bedouin Shriners.

The finals will be an exciting event – being held indoors at the Muskogee Civic Center on Friday and Saturday. It is the first time dirt has ever been brought onto the floor of the civic center. Every seat in the house will be good. All the BRI finals contestants are listed on the BRI website,

Doors will open at 6 p.m. nightly and bull riding at 7 p.m. Admission at the door is $12 for adults, $6 for kids, and 5 and under get in free. Remember – Ain’t Scared is one of the contestants coming from the bull pen.

The Sooner Barrel Racing Association will be holding their 30th annual awards banquet and business meeting at 6 p.m. Saturday. The location for this year’s meeting is the clubhouse at the Inola Round-Up Club. If you need directions, go to This meeting is open to anyone – so if you are interested in joining SBRA for 2013 – come on out and see what awards are given and what changes might come up for 2013. You do not have to be a member to enter SBRA jackpots, but you must be a member and meet requirements to qualify for year-end awards.

Sunday will be the second shodeo of the 2013 series at Rangeline Arena. Events will begin at 3 p.m. They did complete the first one in spite of the cold temperatures. These kids are tough. If you go down and watch these youngsters, you will hear their names again in years to come competing in championships and finals. No gate admission, so come on out and watch.

The bulls and cowboys of the Professional Bull Riders will be in Oklahoma City this weekend. They will be performing at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Shane Proctor was the buckle winner at Winston-Salem, N.C., last weekend. The last time he won a Built Ford Tough Series event was in 2011. Proctor was 3-for-3, including a 90.75 point effort on Jack Daniel’s After Party in the BFTS championship round. Proctor got the call to compete in Winston-Salem as an alternate. North Carolina is where he is now located after marrying his wife Jessi. Following his win, he is now ranked fifth in the world standings.

Regarding bulls, Bushwacker will be in Oklahoma City this weekend. Asteroid will then have back-to-back outings in California, followed by Bushwacker, who will then be in St. Louis and Kansas City. Both bulls are then expected to be in Arlington, Texas, for the Iron Cowboy Invitational.

Television schedule for the PBR this weekend will be CBS Sports Network at 9 p.m. on Saturday and 7 p.m. on Sunday.

The horse sale will be this Friday evening at Parrish Trailers and Tack. Used tack at 5 p.m. and horses to follow.
