OSU 7, W. VIRGINIA 4 — At Stillwater, back-to-back three-run innings in the third and fourth moved the Cowboys into second place in the Big 12 standings. Jason Hursh pitched six innings to earn his sixth win of the season, while Brendan McCurry worked the final frame to collect his team-leading eighth save.
Offensively, OSU (38-13, 12-9) was led by Donnie Walton, who was 2-for-3 with a game-high three RBIs and also slugged his first-career home run, and Randy McCurry, who finished with a pair of doubles en route to a 3-for-4 effort. West Virginia is 30-24 and 12-10.
AUBURN 3, ARKANSAS 0 — At Auburn, Ala., the Razorbacks (34-18, 17-10 SEC) managed just five hits against the Tigers (32-21, 12-16). Brian Anderson led the Razorbacks at the plate in the loss, going 3-for-4. Tyler Spoon and Jake Wise each managed one hit.
Conner Kendrick (5-3) earned the win for Auburn, striking out eight and giving up four hits in 7 1/3 innings. Terrance Dedrick picked up his ninth save of the season, allowing a hit in 1 2/3 innings. Barrett Astin (4-4) suffered the loss. Astin gave up three unearned runs on nine hits and struck out seven in 6 1/3 innings.
ORAL ROBERTS 3, NORTHWESTERN (LA.) 0 — Alex Gonzalez, now 8-5 this season, tied a career high with 13 strikeouts in eight innings on the mound and allowed just three hits. Kurt Giller entered in the ninth to earn his second save of the season. Kevin Cho and Matt Brandy led the Golden Eagles with two hits in the game
Despite improving its Southland Conference record to 15-10 and 22-29 overall, ORU is now playing for tournament seeding as the Golden Eagles were eliminated from the title race with a victory by Sam Houston State. The Demons fell to 15-29 and 4-21 in conference play.
NSU outfielder on All-Region
ST. PAUL, Minn. – Northeastern State outfielder Cody Robinson has been named to the 2013 Daktronics NCAA Division II Baseball All-Central Region Second team, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Robinson, a first-year junior transfer from Sugar Land, Texas, belted 16 home runs and drove in 56 runs this season. He is second in the country in homers, seventh in RBIs, 14th in slugging percentage (.674) and 18th in total bases (116).
