CSC men claim 'tune-up' win

— CONWAY, Ark. — Connors State Cowboys opened its 2012-13 basketball season with an 87-66 victory over Central Baptist College Thursday night on the Mustangs home floor.

Freshman Willie Atwood and sophomore Hakeem Harris led the Cowboys’ scoring attack with 13 and 12 points each. Sophomore Denell Henderson added 10 points in the victory, along with freshman Craig Hill.

The Cowboys led from the outset, holding a 46-22 lead at halftime and were never contested in the contest.

Xavier Huskey led the Mustangs’ scoring with 16 points followed by Jordan Chatters, who scored 13 points and Michael Stevenson with 10.

The Cowboys will open the regular season on Monday at 7:30 p.m. against Southwestern Christian University at Melvin Self Field House. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The Cowgirls will open their season on Monday against Bacone College at Melvin Self Field House. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.

Also an Elvis impersonator will perform at halftime at each of the games.
