Event to help barrel racer

The Susan G. Komen race for a Cure is scheduled for Sat., Sept. 28 in Tulsa.  A team has been started to participate in this race in honor of Diana Megli, a local barrel racer who passed away from cancer last year.  Diana was very active with the Sooner Barrel Racing Association.

 The team is called the “Megli Memorial Team.”  The race has a timed 5K, an untimed 5K, a 1-mile walk/run or even a “sleep in for a cure” category.  You can go to Komentulsa.org to join the team and enter one of the races or just to donate in honor of Diana.

 The Sooner Barrel Racing Association (SBRA) had a barrel race Saturday at the Inola Round-up Club Arena. Jake Dolan won the PeeWees, Presley Miller won the 2D and  Ashtin Conner won the 3D. Justi Baker won the Youth, Cora Screechowl won the 2D and  Molly Dolan won the 3D. Tami Flock had the fastest time in the Open with a 15.948, CeeAnna Munoz won the 2D, Alicia Zodrow won the 3D and Alexis Baker won the 4D.

 A SBRA is scheduled for this Saturday at Broken Arrow.  Exhibitions start at 2 p.m. and the jackpot at 4 p.m. Pee Wees are $10, Youth  $15 and  the Open 4D entry fee $26. Text Kathy Sontag at (918) 237-9364 for pre-entry requests today.

 Rockin’ C Productions in Talala will have a team roping Friday night at the Rockin’ C Arena. Books open at 7 p.m., rope at 8 p.m. They are giving away trophy winter horse blankets to the winners of the 10 and the incentive as well as the first round fast time winners.  The CPH Arena in Owasso is having a Ranch Sorting Saddle Series beginning Saturday, September 21. You must attend four of the nine to qualify for the finals.  The Pryor 4Way Arena is having an 18 and  Under Open Junior Rodeo. Books open at 5 p.m., competition starts at 6 p.m. Contact Andy Atchley at (918) 373-4772.

 The Pryor 4Way Indoor Arena is starting  Monday night barrel races next week and will continue through Oct. 28. The races are BBR approved. Exhibitions start at 6:30 p.m. Youth begins at 8 p.m. with the Open to follow. There’s a progressive 80 percent payout. Contact Kathy Yerigan at (918) 740-3894.

 Rangeline Arena in Warner has a weekly team roping practice from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursdays followed by a #12 slide jackpot, pick 1 draw 2,  $50 a roper. Enter by 7:50 p.m. Roping starts at 8 p.m. On Saturday there’s  a Youth roping (15 and  under) followed by a #8 saddle roping. Books open at 11 a.m., rope at noon.  Hilltop Arena had a successful barrel race Monday night! Kyanne Stephens won the PeeWees, Jaci Jo won the 2D and Ashtin Conner won the 3D. Rachel Moore won the Youth and Isaac Moore won the 4D. Renee Boling won the Open with a 14.634, Ashley Baker-Stapleton won the 2D, Evy Baker won the 3D and  Crystal Gilmore won the 4D.

Results from Tuesday’s Jeffries Productions’ 10-week barrel series at Checotah: Shayla Griggs won the race with a 16.108, Donna Horton won the 2D, Amber Rose Markus won the 3D and  Twila Meier won the 4D.  Equine Speed Productions continues their six-week barrel series at Coweta tonight. Last week, Payton Zodrow won the PeeWees, Jaci Jo won the 2D and  Emma Freeny won the 3D. Kade Williams won the Youth, Rachel Moore won the 2D and  Kenzie Green won the 3D. There were 52 in the Open division and Jessica Klassen won it with a 15.786!  The Tulsa RV Ranch in Beggs is having a bull riding event 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday with $1,000 added money. ACRA/CRRA approved, locals accepted. Contact (417) 325-7501.

 The Gayla Milam Tribute Race was a success as Trisha Walden won it with a 16.568, Kristin Meier won the 2D, Sarah Burgett won the 3D and  Montana Dedmon won the 4D.
