Bacone falls hard at Lamar

BEAUMONT, Texas - The Bacone Warriors were unable to contain the Lamar Cardinals, falling 53-0 Saturday night at Provost Umphrey Stadium.

The Cardinals got on the scoreboard first when Caleb Berry hit Reggie Begleton for a 20-yard touchdown pass that capped a six-play, 68-yard drive.

Berry tossed touchdown passes of two and four yards to give Lamar a 20-0 lead in the second quarter.

The Warriors added to the Cardinals' lead when quarterback Kyle Kuban was tackled in the end zone for two points.

Lamar tacked two more scores to lead Bacone 36-0 at halftime.

It was much of the same story in the second as the Cardinals added a field goal and touchdown rushes of 11 and 12 yards en route to the 53-0 victory.

For the game the Warriors accumulated only 128 yards on offense as they dropped to 2-2 on the season.

Kuban, Karl Birkenfield and Jevone Valentine all saw time at quarterback and combined to finish three-for-22 for 27 yards with four interceptions.

Roderick Mackey anchored the ground game with 50 yards on nine carries.

Bacone (2-2) hosts Haskell Indian Nations next week at 6 p.m.
