College baseball from Wednesday

CONNORS 7, EASTERN 6 (11) — Josh Hammill (7-1) pitched 10 innings, striking out 10 and tossing a four-hitter in getting the win on the mound in the first game of the four-game series. The fourth-ranked Cowboys are 35-7 overall and 7-2 in OCAC play. Eastern is 20-20 and 5-4. The two clubs will meet tonight at 7 at Biff Thompson Field.

In the Cowboys’ half of the 11th, Eric Kirkpatrick opened with a double and was moved to second on sacrifice bunt.  Raul Centeno was inserted as a pinch-hitter and he responded with a double down the left field line for the go-ahead run.

Jake Borrego then singled home Centeno for a 7-5 Connors advantage. Eastern scored a run in the 11th.

Yariel Gonzalez had three hits, including his eighth home run of the year, to lead the hitting attack with Kirkpatrick, Austin Catron and Conner Stevenson each had two hits.

OKLA. WESLEYAN 12, BACONE 6 — The Warriors (18-21) were outhit 12-8, committed four errors, and imploded in an eight-run seventh inning that broke a 4-4 tie. Bacone is off until a Monday home date with Southwestern Christian.
