In need of a win to solidify a trip to the Red River Athletic Conference tournament the Bacone Lady Warriors fell just short 80-72 to Saint Thomas on Thursday night at the Palmer Center.
After staying within single digits for most of the game the Lady Celts pushed their lead to 13 at 75-62 with 3:24 remaining; Bacone trimmed it to 77-71 with under a minute left but that was as close as they would get.
The loss drops the Lady Warriors to 7-16 overall and 5-13 in the RRAC, tied for the eighth and final spot in the conference tournament with Southwestern Assemblies of God and Jarvis Christian.
Offensively Bacone hit 36 percent (28-of-76) but knocked down only 3-of-18 on 3s. Saint Thomas finished shooting 39 percent (26-of-66).
Myriah Hadnot led a quartet of scorers for Bacone with 18. Emily Lovell and Destinee Duncan both finished with 11 points and 10 boards and Danielle Reed chipped in 10.

TULSA — ORU held the Bearkats to a 19.6 percent field goal percentage, a new program record for lowest shooting percentage allowed in a game. ORU’s previous record came on November 29, 2003, when Bacone shot just 20.4 percent in a 119-29 Golden Eagle win.
The 50-point margin of victory is the largest of the season for Misti Cussen’s team against NCAA Division I competition.
Jaci Bigham led the way with 17 points, while Taylor Cooper added 16, Christian Key had 15, Kevi Luper chipped in 13 and Savanna Buck scored 11 on the night. ORU put five players in double-figures for the second time this season.
With the win, ORU (12-11, 9-4 SLC) trails both SHSU (13-11, 9-3 SLC) and Lamar by just a half-game in the league standings.
