BACONE SWEEPS JARVIS – The Warriors swept the doubleheader from Jarvis christian on Friday, winning game one 6-2 and taking the nightcap 10-2.
Jean Ortiz was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs for Bacone (18-12, 4-5) while Jean Carlos Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with two RBIs in game one. Game two saw Eric Folkers lead the way going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs.
OKLAHOMA 2, KANSAS 1 – Oklahoma rallied for a run in the eighth and one in the ninth to steal a win in the weekend opener at Kansas on Friday. The Sooners improved to 19-8 overall and 3-1 in the Big 12, while the Jayhawks fell to 17-9 and 2-2.
TCU 3, OKLAHOMA STATE 1 — The Cowboys brought the winning run to the plate twice in their final at-bat but stranded a pair of baserunners to bring their total for the game to nine as they fell to 17-9 overall and 1-3 in Big 12 play. TCU is now 15-10 and 2-2. Making his second-straight Friday night start, Jon Perrin racked up a career-high eight strikeouts in eight innings, which also marked a career best. He allowed just two earned runs but fell to 2-2 on the year.
UCO 4, NSU 0 — Central Oklahoma’s Jared Sterling blanked the RiverHawks on six hits. Kyle Shambaugh (2-3) gave up five hits and three runs in four innings for the loss. No RiverHawk had more than one hit. UCO is 18-7 and NSU 14-14.
BACONE TAKES DH – The Bacone softball team took both games of a doubleheader from Texas College, 15-7 and 3-0, on Friday. In the first game, Rhiannon Bean was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI while Natisha Nakai was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and three RBIs.
In the nightcap, Kayla Bay, Tianna Gutierrez and Audrianna Hooks scored the runs while Hooks, Lucy Walter and Sylver Collins were credited with the RBIs.
OKLAHOMA 10, IOWA STATE 0 (5) – The Sooners opened Big 12 action on Friday with a run-rule win over Iowa State. Kady Self led the way going 3-for-3 at the plate with two home runs, five runs batted in and three runs scored.
KANSAS 1, OKLAHOMA STATE 0 — Katelyn Schmacher singled down the leftfield line, scoring Taylor Hatfield with the only run of the game in the bottom of the eighth for Kansas (25-10, 1-0 Big 12) against losing pitcher Simone Freeman.
