UPDATED: Sports cancellations, changes

Playoff prep football throughout the state has been pushed back a week due to the winter weather expected to hit today and remain throughout the weekend.

Those include the lone area team remaining. Vian will face off with Davis at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13 at McAlester High School. All other 3A, 2A and A games will be played a week from Friday as well.

The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association has reset the Jenks-Union battle for the Class 6A title for 7 p.m. next  Thursday, moved to the University of Tulsa's Chapman Stadium, while the Anadarko-Poteau 4A title game will be Saturday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m. The 5A championship featuring Guthrie and McAlester will kickoff at 7 p.m., with both  games again at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater. The B and C championship games are also on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Other changes or cancellations:

Prep basketball

The Hilldale Tournament set to start Thursday has been canceled as well as Oktaha’s games in the Wilburton tournament. Sequoyah’s games against Spiro have also been canceled.

All Muskogee Public Schools athletic events through Saturday are postponed.

College basketball

 The University of Oklahoma is moving up the start time of its college basketball game Thursday against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to 2 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. at Lloyd Noble Center. All fans will be admitted at no charge and popcorn and soft drinks will be sold for $1 each.

Season ticket holders and those who have bought tickets for the game will have the first choice of seats.

Doors will open at 12:30 p.m.

Connors State Cowboys and Cowgirls basketball game scheduled for Thursday night at Melvin Self Field House with Redlands Community College has been postponed due to inclement weather according to CSC Athletic Director Bill Muse.

The Connors and Redlands  Community College game will be played on Tuesday at Melvin Self Field House. The Cowgirls will play at 5:30 p.m. and the Cowboys will follow at 7:30 p.m. announced Muse. The Cowboys' game on Friday with Oklahoma Wesleyan Junior Varsity has been postponed also.
